What is the difference between portraiture and boudoir, you ask?
Boudoir photography
usually involves lingerie, or some level of undress. The goal with boudoir is to empower people to see the fierce, independent, sexy, badass humans that they are. These images are purposefully intimate, which is why we are so adamant about protecting our clients’ privacy. We use only natural retouching techniques on boudoir images. It is important to us that our clients look like themselves in the finished product, not a plastic doll version of themselves. We also never, ever want our clients to think they look beautiful or handsome because of Photoshop. So while Boudoir captures your sensuality, beauty, and sexuality, portrait photography
captures your personality and individuality. Of course, it’s an impossible task to capture every element of a person in one photo, but our approach is to tell one chapter of your story, not the whole book. An environmental portrait is a good example of how we acheive this (and also one of our favorite styles of shooting!). In this type of photo a person is surrounded by an environment that tells the story of who they are - their art studio and paintings, yoga mats, books and manuscripts, collection of their favorite things etc. This shoot has some good examples of both. Enjoy!!
