As a boudoir photographer in Salt Lake City, Utah, I hear these things all the time. It doesn’t matter if you do pictures on a regular basis, if you are a model, or if you pose in front of a camera as often as people are required to update their passports. I would love to tell you that you are one of a kind in terms of these excuses but unfortunately, we are all the same when it comes to this subject. We all put the same shields around us, hoping that somehow they will make us feel safer, that we won’t have to “expose” ourselves and risk anything. It seems like such a good idea to just keep living the way we’ve been for a long time.
This couldn’t be further from the truth, though. In my experience, there has never been a person who has regretted doing a boudoir photo shoot. The reasons why you might be afraid of booking a session even though you are interested in it and you want to do it are the exact reasons why you ABSOLUTELY should. Let me talk about few that I hear about the most often and allow me to show you what I mean.
1. I will book when I lose XX (enter your number) pounds
This is the absolute number one concern I hear. I think that literally 99% of people who ever reached out to me about a boudoir session had this concern on their mind. Let me tell you this: if you think that you need to lose some weight to look sexy and beautiful, then this is the EXACT reason why you absolutely SHOULD do the session now. If you look around on our website, all of the women you see there are not professional models, they are normal clients just like you. They also said they wish they were skinnier. And when you look at their pictures this is the last thing you would ever think. What want to show you is that weight has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with your beauty.
2. I don’t know anything about posing!
I’ve got good news for you! You don’t have to. That’s what we are here for. I’ve spent countless hours directing models and non-models of all shapes and sizes. All you have to do is just relax and trust me. I will pose every part of you, from your feet all the way up to your head and expressions.
(bonus point) I am afraid the photographer will touch me during the session.
This is an extremely valid and important concern. We do not touch you even if we have a more advanced pose we would like to try. I will often tell you to relax and observe me as I will demonstrate exactly what I am looking for. I will also mirror you and show you how I would like you to move. So again – no touching! If your hair or outfit needs adjusting, Pamela will ask you permission to adjust it or show you what needs to be done.
3. I don’t have any sexy lingerie and I wouldn’t know how to pick outfits!
First of all, you don’t need sexy lingerie to look sexy. You are beautiful because of you, not because of what you wear. Second of all, we are here for you all the way. Pamela will give you tips on picking out outfits and we also have a large client closet of beautiful items that we love for our clients to borrow!
4. I would love to have sensual pictures of myself but I don’t want to pose naked or only in lingerie.
It might be a surprise to a lot of people, but… IT’S ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM. Just like in my previous point, we show your natural beauty. We do not need fancy outfits to show you how sensual and hot you are. Bring in your favorite dress, a sweater, jeans, leather jacket, heck -even sweat pants. There is a sexy beast inside of you and we can see it and we can show it to you!
5. I am ready to book but right now I have a lot of bills and cannot afford it.
We understand that and we realize that there are a lot of cheaper photographers. We are a luxury studio and provide you with the highest quality of service. We offer only the highest quality products that we ourselves are proud of displaying in our own homes. We take care of you on every level so that you can have the time of your life. We do a limited number of shoots each year so that we can give you our full focus always. Because of that, it might be difficult to get a session with us if you postpone booking. That’s why we have payment plans that are very manageable and on top of that, we are humans too- don’t be afraid to talk to us about your challenges! All of our clients are like friends to us and we want you to have this empowering experience! We will help you in any way we can.
6. I want to do it but I’m not sure my significant other will approve.
Then bring them with you! Book a couples shoot or have them around when you are doing your session. In my experience, they all absolutely love it. They might need you to encourage them and lead the way, though. 😉
