Boudoir Is About Who You Are NOW

Boudoir session is about who you are now

I often remind my wife that it’s not helpful to look at the scale every day. Even with the reminder, it is hard for her to let go of checking her weight. But even though the numbers go up and down every day, it’s not like anybody who knows her looks at her differently. Chances are that pretty much nobody knows if she woke up heavier or lighter this morning.

Neither of us are from Utah. Back where we grew up in Europe people were very judgmental of the weight of other people. Even our own families, without realizing the nonsense and hurtful effects of it, would comment on our weight, whether it went up or down.

Our weight is a rollercoaster. Beauty, just like art, cannot be quantified. I do not treat or look at my wife differently when her weight changes daily. It is because I SEE HER. Her beauty and her soul is much deeper, inside of her. This is what makes all of us beautiful. It is US.

That’s why at Silk and Salt we always say that boudoir is about who you are and how you want to feel. The experience of being you up to this point right now, until that 1/160th of a second it takes the shutter to close and open. One day you will look back and you will absolutely not worry about how much you weighed on the day of your photoshoot. But you will see and feel who you were at that moment; who you wanted to be; what you were feeling and what you wanted to experience. You will see growth, story, and beauty that transcends other things. Because your priorities will change, you will change. And you sure will be very glad that you have that memory of your journey saved for yourself forever.
