ABOUT

hello, lovely!

We're Matt and Pamela and we create art for the audacious. What does it mean to be audacious? It means that you write your own story, you don't act out the one someone told you to rehearse. It means you are creating a legacy, in your work, in your personal life, and you know it deserves to be documented. Our clients are on a journey to find their authentic selves. They know they are worth investing in through our work, or they are ready to let us take their hand and show them that they are worth it. The people you see on our website are not models, they are normal people who were long overdue for a day of pampering and self-love, who were ready for a confidence-boosting transformation, just like you.  If you don't walk into our studio feeling audacious, you most certainly will when you leave. You will leave knowing that you are enough. You don't need to change a single thing about yourself to love yourself, because you are a work of art.

Matt Jagiello (he/him)

My name is Mateusz but you can just call me Matt. I was born and raised in Poland where I studied French horn with one of the most amazing teachers on the planet. I have to share a secret with you, though. Music was never truly my choice; I never felt true passion for it. I was playing other people's music for other people – it was simply crushing my soul. I was really afraid that leaving something I spent more than 20 years of my life doing was going to feel very scary and overwhelming but I was extremely surprised at how easy it was. Photography filled my heart with unlimited passion and love – what seemed to be scary at the beginning turned out to be the best thing I did for myself. I started to listen to myself and what I want, rather than what other people told me.

Because I have studied art my whole life and discipline I had to maintain when I was practicing my instrument, I translated a lot of that training into photography. I live and breathe it. I cannot stop thinking about it and I don’t want to. Very quickly I was able to identify things that became the core of what I do. In the times where cameras make choices for the photographers, presets and AI edits their work for them, and most things are stuck in the digital world, I rebel against almost all of it. Human contact is the most important thing to me and craftsmanship is what I’ve known my entire life. That’s why my photography is very organic, authentic, and emotional.

I almost exclusively use 50mm lenses and manual focusing cameras. What does that mean to you? It means that I am not using any “tricks” of lenses to make you look differently. 50mm lens is the closest to how we see with our own eyes there for there is no distortion or compression caused by other lenses. It is very important for me to show you how I see you – my photographs are a love letter to you. They show you how an artist sees you.

I want you to know that what is the most important to me is you. This is what photography is to me. It’s the magic we create that cannot be reproduced by anybody because there is nobody else like you and me out there.

Pamela Godwin (she/her)

I'm mom to 3 incredible kiddos, 2 bonus kiddos, and 3 fur babies; wife to the 2 loves of my life (I'm polyamorous); I'm a yogi, a climber and a zealous traveler; all while running the day-to-day operations of Silk + Salt, keeping Matt's gear obsessions in check, and providing a legendary experience for each and every client that walks through our door.

Needless to say, I'm busy, and my life can get messy. Most days I throw my hair into a ponytail and call it good. I only put on a bra when I absolutely have to. But every day I wake up feeling thankful because I created a job that I LOVE PASSIONATELY, heart and soul. At age 40, after doing the stay-at-home mom thing for my ENTIRE adult life, I started this business that taught me how to love myself. Now I get to pass on that sacred knowledge to others... and that is EVERYTHING!

I feel like I have found my calling, or perhaps it's found me. Either way, nothing gives me more fulfillment than seeing a client go through a life-changing transformation because of their experience with us. I keep tissues at the ready always, because there are a lot of happy tears at Silk + Salt. We believe deeply in the power of what we do.

When you come in for your shoot you'll get to see just how goofy Matt and I can get. He's become like family to me. We compliment each other very well: his artistic vision is a constant source of inspiration for me and I keep both of his feet on the ground. I feel so lucky to have found a business partner who shares my values and is such a monumental talent.
