Boudoir sessions are so exciting!! But they can also seem intimidating. I kept tabs of our ten most frequently asked questions so I could share the answers with you and get you ready to book your Silk + Salt experience! Promise, it’s not really scary at all. ;)

Where will my boudoir session take place? Do you have a studio?
Silk + Salt can shoot almost anywhere! We do have an in-home studio in Ogden, Utah but for an additional fee we can rent any studio in the Salt Lake City area that will give you the look and feel you want. Ask us about the Ogden mansion you see in many of our images, also for an additional fee.
How far in advance should I book my session?
Ideally, you’ll want to schedule your shoot date about 2 months prior to needing the finished product in-hand. We only shoot two to three sessions per week to ensure our clients get a personalized, boutique experience so DON’T WAIT to email us! It’s never too early to get on our schedule. Your photo reveal appointment will be approximately 1-2 weeks after your photo session, and your finished product (depending on what you order) will arrive between 3-6 weeks after that.

What I on earth should I wear?We have two whole guides to answer this question because there was so much info I couldn’t fit it all into one! You can find those HERE . Ultimately, though, you want to wear whatever makes you feel sexy! You’ll want to have four to five options to choose from and no they don’t all have to be lingerie. In fact, it’s ok if none of them are lingerie! You probably already have some things in your closet that would be perfect, but if you’re just dying to go shopping and don’t know what to buy, just ask me (Pamela) and I’ll give you some direction! We also have a huge client closet with everything from XS-5X, so you don't have to bring anything with you! We don't want you spending money on something you're only going to wear once. ;)

What should I do to prepare for my shoot?
This is such a personal question and we want to give it the personal answer it deserves. In fact, we would love to answer all of your questions! Both in-person and phone consultations are available for free and we are also available after you book to answer any questions you have by phone or email. We will give you personalized information on how to prepare based on your individual concerns and desires. We pride ourselves on offering a LUXURY EXPERIENCE to our clients! That means we are building relationships and lovingly guiding our clients through the entire process!
Are all the people on your website models? I don’t look like a model and I’m scared to do this!

I’ll tell you a little secret: even models don’t look like models unless they’re working with a great photographer! Mateusz knows what he’s doing. He’s the master of lighting and posing and has spent hundreds of hours studying and practicing how to make people look like the sophisticated descendants of Roman gods. Another secret? Why not?! NONE of the people on our website are models! They didn’t know how to pose and they thought their facial expressions were dorky, just like the rest of us. All these beautiful people came to us hating parts of themselves and hoping we could make them look sexy or gorgeous or handsome or sensual. And then you saw them and thought they were models! See? We got you, boo!

What do your packages include? How much should I expect to spend?
The experience starts at $500. That includes the two-hour photo shoot with Mat and Pamela and a pre-shoot consultation, wardrobe planning, hair and makeup, up to four outfits, access to our client closet, professional modeling direction, professional image retouching and editing, and an in-studio image reveal and ordering session. At your ordering session, you’ll get to see all of our gorgeous photo and order albums, wall art, and other products that make your heart happy. <3 Our clients typically spend around $2000 on products because there are just too many photos they cannot live without from their session (uh,huh…we’re THAT good here!) but there’s a wide range of products and packages and most importantly, NO minimum order. We only want you to buy what you love. We put our packages together with great care, based on the highest quality standards, client demand, and product availability. Want to see what product offerings are available at your photo reveal appointment? Email hello@silkandsaltphoto.com and we’ll send you a product list.

How much can you “edit out”?
Our clients do not look gorgeous in their photos because of Photoshop. We use posing and lighting to capture the best quality image, but mostly we use your best attributes! If we can't convince you that you are beautiful exactly the way you are then we’re not doing our job. Therefore, it’s our policy to do minimal editing on your images. Our post-processing techniques are focused on skin smoothing, color, contrast, sharpening, and the like. What we do edit: things that are temporary in nature. Woke up with a zit on shoot day? You bet we’re not going to make you remember that zit forever. Didn’t sleep the night before because you were feeling nervous? Dark circles- be gone! We will smooth out your skin and buff out stretch marks. What we don’t usually edit out: tattoos, scars, your body shape, things that make you, you.

Do you have payment plans?
Absolutely! At your image reveal when you order your products, Pamela will go over all of our flexible options. We know this is an investment and we want everyone who wants a shoot to be able to do one, so we work with you as best we can to get you everything you want. We never charge interest. Most of our clients take advantage of this option so don’t be shy about asking for it! We also have pre-payment plans available. When you pre-pay for one of our top three collections, you get amazing bonuses to make your shoot even more luxurious!

Will you use my images on your website or social media?
Only if you say it’s ok!! Naturally, we would LOVE to use your images from your session, but they’re just that- YOUR images- and we don’t have the right to share them unless you feel completely comfortable with it. Some clients feel comfortable sharing any and all of their images, some only want to share the anonymous images where their face is not visible, and some don’t want any shared at all. Whatever you choose, we will honor your wishes.

I am a researcher by nature. I gather information, mull it over, think about all the scenarios and possible outcomes before making a decision. In some way, this gave me a sense of control in my life. I could predict how things would go, and if they fell into another scenario, well, I had already thought about that and could figure it out when that moment came.
