Stef's Boudoir Experience at Silk and Salt
I scheduled my shoot and was like, “hell yeah!” and then the nerves started kicking in, along with the doubt; the self-doubt that we all have in the back of our minds that says, “oh you’re a little chunky, you’re not ready for that, you better push it out further so that way you can get in better shape, grow your hair out longer” all the bullshit that we tell ourselves. I told Pamela, “I’m kind of nervous now, it’s like as soon as I said that I wanted to do this those negative thoughts started coming in.” To which Pamela replied, “everyone’s nervous before their photo session! Don’t you worry, we’ll get you taken care of!”
The follow up emails were so informative and helped ease my nerves. They have really thought of everything! About 2 weeks before my shoot I was deciding on the outfits I wanted to wear. I remembered Pamela said that they have a huge client closet, and I had a feeling it would be way better than what I could come up with so I planned on checking that out. Plus those angel wings gawwww sooo pretty!
About five days out from the photo shoot I was getting super excited! I was trying hard not to overthink it: “just relax it’s going to be fun!”
The day before my photo shoot I wrote Pamela to let her know how excited I was getting!
Photo shoot day! When I arrived my name was on a plaque that said “Welcome Stef” (they really know how to make a gal feel special!) I was greeted and introduced to Austin, who did my hair and make-up, and Mateusz, the photographer. To top it all off there were snacks! What is better than snacks?!!
We started on hair and makeup while I ate snacks 😂; the vibe was chill. We were laughing, listening to music and getting comfortable. I was a little nervous to have a male take my pictures, but something about Mateusz’s demeanor is very comforting. Chatting with him before helped me a lot to settle into the environment and be myself.
Time for outfits! OMG when I say they have something for everyone I mean THEY have something for everyone! Whatever you are into they can provide! Murder robes, wings, harnesses; you name it, they have it! It was like playing dress up! I appreciated that I was able to try things on and Pamela was there to give me her opinion. Totally a safe space.
Mateusz said he was not funny… that was a lie. He CRACKED ME up the entire time, the banter between the 3 of us took this experience to a new level for me. I felt like a queen from start to finish, Mateusz is going to let you know what you are doing with every movement and when you are doing something he likes he just says “yes, yes, yes< that’s it!” It is like what you see in the movies!
I left the studio with a giant smile on my face. What an incredible experience. I was able to wear 4 different outfits, changed the scene 7 different times, I never felt rushed and I was treated with the highest level of respect. “Can’t wait to see how these turn out!”
Reveal day!! You know how sometimes if you have someone else do your hair and makeup you get a little concerned that you won’t look like you?! That thought had definitely crossed my mind, so reveal day I was hoping to look like myself in my photos, not too done up but just enough glam to wow them!
Yeaaahh Austin SLAYED my hair and makeup, the smokey eye, the classic hair style… I am a bad bitch in these pictures, and you know what else? I genuinely look like I am having a good time. The vibe at the studio puts you in a space mentally that you can open up and feel safe to be vulnerable in these photos. Not only are you working with an award winning photographer, Pamela has curated a space that is warm, calm and inviting. I would do this again and again a hundred times over. Thank you guys for the experience.
